Butch Helemano will emcee the opening ceremony for the seventh annual Da Hui Backdoor Shootout, at 10 a.m. Sunday at Ehukai Beach Park.

The Shootout's holding period is Jan. 5-15 and the contest will be held at Backdoor Pipeline off Ehukai Beach Park, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on surfing days.

The teams entered this year are Da Hui, Quiksilver, Oakley, Hurley, Red Bull, Billabong, Volcom and North Shore Boys.

Among the professional surfers competing are Makua Rothman, Pancho Sullivan, Mark Healey, Danny Fuller, Kala Alexander, Keali'i Mamala and 2008 winner Jaime O'Brien.
