Big Island crews rescue lost hiker

Big Island firefighters rescued a lost hiker Saturday night.
Rescue personnel arrived at Akaka Falls shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday to find heavy rain and swollen rivers. The hiker apparently began his trek up the state trail to Akaka Falls shortly before 6 p.m. He hiked for about 45 minutes before getting lost, the Big Island fire department reported.
It took several hours to find and rescue the hiker. He was uninjured.
