A People magazine photo clearly shows it: "Lost" actor Josh Holloway, splashing in the sea for a Davidoff "Cool Water" commercial in Hawai'i, boasts a tattoo of the Hawaiian Islands on his shirtless bod, between his right armpit and hip. You clearly can see the Big Island, with the rest of the island chain angling up his side toward his back. The question is: Is this a real tattoo or a temp tattoo? What's the story? If real, will papa-to-be Holloway have to have makeup cover-up on future episodes of ABC's "Lost," if he's shirtless in a scene?
There's online buzz about it. Someone, Holloway, anyone — please clue us in. ...
Around town: Good and sad news for Lisa Josephsohn, the publicist battling cancer with regular chemo sessions. Last week, she earned the "Joy of Dance" award, presented by Susie Schull, Ballet Hawaii president, at its board meeting. No question, Josephsohn is a booster of dance — and theater and music and all of the arts. ...
Sadly, her "best little kitty boy," named Mel Brooks Josephsohn, died last Wednesday after a lingering illness. "He is in a better place and not suffering," Josephsohn said. "Mel waited for me to come home from chemo." Good friend Kika Matsumoto has helped nurse Mel, and Dr. Carol Fujioka was on hand, too, when Mel expired. ...

TRIBUTES: It was a very nice send-off for the late Pearl DeLima last Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Pauoa, where Patrick Downes shared memories of Frank DeLima's mother in a sweet eulogy that Pearl would have adored. DeLima sang one of her favorites, his "Waimea Lullaby" hit that Downes composed, with sweet, chicken-skin support and harmony from the Honolulu Boy Choir. Between remembrances, there were performances by Karen Keawehawai'i, Danny Kaleikini, Audy Kimura and Melveen Leed; Da Tita delivered a powerful rendering of her "Kanaka Waiwai" hit. "Mom would have loved it; she was belle of the ball," DeLima said later. ...
DeLima ordered 50 gallons of Zippy's Portuguese bean soup for a post-service snack, with bread pudding from Agnes Bakery; the Portuguese sweet bread was from Sam's Club. ...

TIDBITS: T.J. Keanu Tario, the diminutive but mighty talented youngster, has won first place in the MTNA (Music Teachers National Assn.) Southwest Division Composition Competition, junior high level. His composition, "Makika (Mosquito) op. 1," will compete nationally with six other division finalists. T.J. is a ninth-grader at Kamehameha and a piano student of Ellen Masaki. Should he finish first, he'll perform his original work at the MTNA national conference in Atlanta in March. The Southwest division includes Hawai'i, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. T.J., son of Karli and Ron Tario, is a veteran of music and stage. You've seen him in "You Somebody" with Loretta Ables Sayre, and performing with the Honolulu Symphony. ...
We've earlier mentioned that Ned Van Zandt has a role in the just-aired Lifetime TV movie "Special Delivery" filmed here, starring Brenda Song and Lisa Edelstein, but folks like Michael Cowell, Stan Egi, Dann Seki, Blade Rodgers, Rob Duval and Paul T. Mitri also are in it. ...
Finally: It's not quite Honolulu City Lights, but it's worth a look-see. The Hawaii Central Credit Union, at 681 S. King St., has a festive storefront: a light display with eight flashing and dancing candy canes, complete with Christmas music. Pull into the driveway, watch, tune in to 88.5 FM for holiday tunes, from 6 to 11 p.m. daily through Jan. 3. ...
