MONTGOMERY, Ala. — An Alabama State women's basketball player was killed in a car wreck.
Richelle Jones was killed in a one-vehicle wreck Monday night. Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Dorris Teague said the freshman center from Selma was traveling on Alabama 21 about 15 miles north of Camden when her vehicle left the road, hit a tree and overturned.
Teague said state troopers are investigating the accident.
It was the second death of an Alabama State basketball player this year. Deshean Porchea collapsed during a pickup game in April and never regained consciousness.
He was a 19-year-old sophomore.
