CBKB: Virginia Tech's Vassallo charged with shoplifting
Associated Press
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech men's basketball standout A.D. Vassallo and ex-Hokie Chris Tucker have been charged with shoplifting a 12-pack of Dr Pepper.
Vassallo and Tucker were charged last week, two days before the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden, in which Vassallo played in two games.
Athletic Director Jim Weaver says he doesn't believe Vassallo did anything wrong, and doesn't plan to suspend the Hokies' leading scorer, who is averaging a team-high 19.3 points per game.
Vassallo and Tucker face misdemeanor larceny charges and are scheduled to appear in Montgomery County General District Court on Feb. 11.
Jimmy Turk, the lawyer representing both men, says he doesn't think either will be found guilty.
