Roderick Flemings scored 37 points to lead the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team to a 75-55 victory over Eastern Washington tonight.

A crowd of 2,906 at the Stan Sheriff Center watched the Rainbow Warriors win their fourth consecutive home game to improve to 4-3. The Eagles dropped to 6-3.

Flemings, a 6-foot-7 junior, shot 16 of 23 from the field and 4 of 6 on free throws. He also had five rebounds and four assists. His 37 points tied the record for most points scored by a Hawai'i player in the Sheriff Center.

Bill Amis added 11 points and three blocked shots for Hawai'i. The 'Bows committed a season-low 12 turnovers and shot 50.9 percent from the field.

Eastern Washington jumped to an early 13-9 lead before the 'Bows took control. Hawai'i grabbed its first lead of the game at 17-16 on a putback by Flemings.

The 'Bows closed the first half with a 9-2 surge and took a 38-26 lead at intermission. Flemings scored 15 in the first half on 6-of-9 shooting.

The Eagles opened the second half with a 7-0 run to cut Hawai'i's lead to 38-33, but that was as close as it would get.

Flemings out-scored the Eagles 9-0 during one stretch of the second half to increase the Hawai'i lead to 59-44.

Benny Valentine, a 5-7 point guard, led the Eagles with 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

Sophomore point guard Hiram Thompson played six minutes for the 'Bows. He did not have any points or assists, but it was the first game he has played since the season opener. He sat out the last five games with a hamstring injury.

Hawai'i is scheduled to play another home game on Monday, when it hosts Chicago State.
