Surf is on the way up today along the north- and west-facing shores of Oahu, the National Weather Service said.

North-facing shores will see wave faces of 8 to 12 feet today while west-facing shores are expected to have surf with wave faces of 3 to 6 feet.

Elsewhere on Oahu, look for surf of 1 to 3 feet along east- and south-facing shores.

Outlook through Sunday, Dec. 14: The new north-northwest swell will continue for several days with with surf just below the 15 foot advisory level for north-facing shores.

A small west swell will peak Tuesday, while a strong surface low will begin developing northwest of the islands Tuesday night. As the low strengthens, southerly winds will increase across the state with building short period windswell along south-facing beaches beginning Wednesday afternoon.

The windswell will then hold at moderate levels Thursday, then drop Friday.
