Waipahu boxer Brian Viloria will fight this week, just not for a world title.

Viloria was originally scheduled to face Mexico's Ulisses Solis for the IBF light flyweight (108 pounds) world championship Saturday at Macau, China.

However, Solis got cut above his left eye during a bout Nov. 2, and needs more time for it to heal.

Gary Gittelsohn, Viloria's manager, said the title bout will likely be rescheduled for March, although no site has been selected. He said it could be in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, or Manila, Philippines.

"It's still going to happen," Gittelsohn said.

Because of the postponement of the title bout, Viloria will fight in another "tune-up" against Benjamin Garcia of Mexico on Friday. Garcia has a professional record of 13-10-3.

"He can punch a bit, but at this point, we're just looking for rounds to keep Brian active," Gittelsohn said.

Viloria, 28, has a professional record of 23-2, including 4-0 in 2008.

"This is his fifth fight this year, which is a lot for anybody, let alone a title contender like Brian," Gittelsohn said. "But we want him to be prepared for that world title fight, and if it's not going to take place until March, this is a good time for another fight to get him ready."

Friday's bout will take place in Los Angeles and will be televised on the TeleFutura Spanish-language network.
