Kaua'i police arrested a suspect in a two-car accident on Tuesday and identified him as David Dotimas, who was arrested for investigation of accidents involving damage to vehicles or property, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and duty to give information and render aid.

The accident occurred on Kaumuali'i Highway in Puhi at 8:25 a.m. Dotimas allegedly was the lone occupant of a two-door silver Honda sedan that rear ended another driver.

He allegedly fled the scene of the accident and was chased by the other driver into Kaua'i Nursery, police said.

Dotimas allegedly discarded a white plastic bag into a planter at the nursery, police said. Investigators executed a search warrant for the bag and discovered a .45 caliber handgun and ammunition.

Bail for Dotimas was set at $3,000, and Dotimas was released after posting bond.
