Oahu street closures set for Christmas parades, other events

The city has announced the following street closures for this month's parades, walks, races and other activities:

• ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SEASON PARKING BAN by the City and County of Honolulu. Now through Saturday, Jan. 3, at various times, seven days a week. No-parking tow-away zones:

Honolulu area — 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.: (1) Kapi'olani Boulevard, makai side, South Street to Atkinson Drive, (2) Ke'eaumoku Street, both sides, Liona Street to Makaloa Street.

Pearl City area — 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.: (1) Puu Kula Street, inner curb, Nos. 808 to 926 Puu Kula Dr., (2) Ho'olaule'a Street, makai side, Waimano Home Road to Hoomalu Street.

• 62nd ANNUAL KAIMUKI CHRISTMAS PARADE sponsored by Kaimuki Business & Professional Association. Thursday, Dec. 4, 6 to 8 p.m.

The event is expected to have 1,500 marchers and 40 vehicles. It will go from Saint Louis School/Chaminade University grounds, to Wai'alae Avenue, to Koko Head Avenue, to end at the municipal parking lot.

• WAHIAWA TOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE, sponsored by Wahiawa Community & Buisness Association. Friday, Dec. 5, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event is expected to have 300 marchers, 10 vehicles, 2 floats and 2 bands. It will go from Ka'ala Elementary School to California Avenue to North Cane Street and end at Center Street.

• MILILANI CHRISTMAS PARADE, sponsored by Mililani Shopping Center & Town Center of Mililani. Saturday, Dec. 6, 9 to 10 a.m. The event is expected to have 1,000 marchers, 30 vehicles, 10 floats, 2 bands. It will go from Town Center of Mililani near Taco Bell, to Lanikuhana Avenue, to Meheula Parkway, to Kuahelani Street, to Moenamanu Street, to Kipapa Drive, and finish at Mililani Shopping Center near Jack in the Box.

• KANE'OHE CHRISTMAS PARADE, sponsored by Kaneohe Christmas Parade Committee. Saturday, Dec. 6, 9 to 10:30 a.m.The event is expected to have 1,500 marchers, 30 vehicles, 15 motorcycles, 10 floats, and 5 bands. It will go from Windward Mall at Ha'iku Road, to Kamehameha Highway, to Kane'ohe Bay Drive, and end at Castle High School.

• MAYOR'S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY/PARADE, sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu. Saturday, Dec. 6, 6 to 11 p.m. The event is expected to have 2,000 marchers, 40 vehicles, 15 floats and 15 bands. It go from Aala Park to King Street, kokohead on King Street, to end in closed-off portion of King Street between Punchbowl and South streets.
