Big Island pedestrian death ruled accidental

Fifteen people have died in traffic accidents on the Big Island this year. The breakdown includes 10 vehicle crashes/collisions, three accidents involving motorcycles and two pedestrians.

    Autopsy findings by the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office today determined the pedestrian death of a Big Island man was accidental.

    Steven H. Kepano, 54, of Hilo died Friday at The Queen's Medical Center from multiple traumatic injuries suffered Tuesday when he was struck by a car while jaywalking across Kamehameha Avenue.
