They came, they sang, they had cake at Don Ho's birthday bash Wednesday night at his namesake restaurant, Don Ho's Island Grill.
It was an homage to the late entertainer, who would have been 78.
Melveen Leed and Rodney Cazimero sang "I'll Remember You." Haumea Hebenstreit Ho (Don's widow) danced to "Beautiful Kaua'i" as Al Waterson sang.
The packed house included many entertainers who worked with Ho, including Angel Pablo, Tokyo Joe, Tony Silva, Mathew Pablo, Christina Youngs, Maka'ala Perry, Jasmin Idica, Brandy Perry and Jerome Perry. Other folks with show biz ties there: Tom Moffatt, Iva Kinimaka, Jordan Segundo, Augie Rey, Alan Arato, George Chun, Amado Cacho and Don Ho's Island Grill proprietors Nicki and Fred Livingston.
"We all felt that Don Ho was there in spirit," said Nancy Bernal, one of the event's producers.

BALE NOT CHARGED IN FAMILY SPAT
LONDON — Christian Bale won't be charged in an alleged assault on his mother and sister, in part because they didn't want to press the matter but also for lack of evidence, prosecutors said yesterday.
Britain's Crown Prosecution Service instructed police not to take any further action, saying there was insufficient evidence to make a conviction likely.
Bale, who denies the allegation, said through spokeswoman Jennifer Allen that he is relieved the issue is settled. The actor "hopes to put the matter firmly behind him" and will be providing no further comment, Allen said in statement released by Bale's lawyers.
His family had previously declined to comment.
British media has reported that Bale's mother and sister told police he assaulted them at his suite at the luxury Dorchester Hotel on July 20. The next day he attended the European premiere of his film "The Dark Knight."
DMX ARRESTED FOR SKIPPING COURT
PHOENIX — A lawyer for DMX says the rapper has been arrested in Miami on a warrant for failing to attend a Phoenix court hearing.
DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, checked into a Miami hospital the day he was to appear in Phoenix and was planning on entering a rehab facility afterward, said lawyer Charles Kozelka, adding that the warrant stopped those plans, and that he had been trying to arrange for DMX to turn himself in at the airport.
A Phoenix judge issued the warrant Tuesday after DMX didn't appear for a pretrial conference on four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and one count of marijuana possession.
HARRY POTTER FILM RELEASE DELAYED
LOS ANGELES — The release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth installment in the blockbuster film franchise about the boy wizard, has been pushed back from Nov. 21 to July 17, 2009, distributor Warner Brothers said yesterday.
The move will take advantage of an open weekend in Hollywood's busy summer season, said Warner's president. The production was on schedule, and the change was not due to any snags, he said.
The switch will mean a two-year lag between the film adaptations of books five and six in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series. But it will shorten fans' wait between "Half-Blood Prince" and the final two installments, which are being shot simultaneously next year. Those movies are due out in close order, in November 2010 and summer 2011.
