2 Honolulu men facing firearm charges

Firearm charges are pending against two men arrested yesterday in Honolulu on outstanding warrants.
The men, 24 and 20, were arrested on three warrants. Police also found one of the suspects in possession of what appeared to illegal drugs, which resulted in his bail for another offense being revoked. Both men were booked for investigation of firearm offenses, including having guns with defaced serial numbers.
Police had been looking for the two men since Aug. 1.
The men were involved in an argument with two other men in the parking lot of a Makiki-area fast-food restaurant at 6:45 a.m. when a police officer intervened. One of the suspects was seen by the officer holding a weapon but placed it back in his vehicle before driving off.
The officer saw a gun in the car as the suspects drove by him. An all-points bulletin on the vehicle was issued but police were unable to locate it until yesterday. Police, however, had determined the identity of the driver.
Police stopped the vehicle yesterday and during the stop learned both suspects had outstanding warrants.
During the arrest, a woman approached officers and handed them a bag containing firearms with defaced serial numbers, police said.
The officer involved in the Aug. 1 incident identified the suspect driver and firearm he saw in the car as one of those found in the bag, police said.
