Surf: Eastern shores dropping down to 2-5 feet today

Trade winds are on the way down and so is the surf along east-facing shores of Oahu, which will be 2 to 5 feet today, the National Weather Service said.

Elsewhere, look for surf of 2 feet or less along north- and west-facing shores and 1 to 3 along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Sunday, Aug. 17: The rough and choppy surf produced by the strong trade winds will gradually diminish along east-facing shores throughout the day as as the trades weaken.

Smallish background swells will continue along south-facing shores throughout the week.

Meanwhile, a small north-northwest swell is expected to arrive late Thursday and continue through Saturday.

Otherwise, no significant swells are expected.
