Wilson makes cut, McLachlin misses at PGA Championship

Advertiser News Services

Kane'ohe native Dean Wilson made the cut while Honolulu's Parker McLachlin fell short in the second round of the PGA Championship today at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Mich.

Wilson, a Castle High alum, shot a 3-over-par 73 and was tied for 35th at 6-over 146. He had seven bogeys and four birdies in the second round. J.B. Holmes shot a 68 for a 1-shot lead at 139.

McLachlin, a Punahou alum, couldn't continue his success after winning last week's Reno-Tahoe Open to qualify for this week's tournament. He shot a 77 — five bogeys and a double-bogey — to finish tied for 113th at 153. The cut for the best 70 scores and ties was 148.

McLachlin and Wilson have already qualified for the FedExCup playoffs, which begin Aug. 21 with The Barclays at Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey.
