Fresno State completes softball sweep of Rainbows, 2-1

Andrea Ortega's single in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in Mallory Perkins with the winning run to lift No. 10 Fresno State to a 2-1 victory over No. 24 Hawai'i today for a doubleheader and series sweep at Fresno, Calif.
Fresno State (45-8, 10-4 WAC) won the first game, 3-2, also in eight innings. All three Bulldog victories in the series were by one run.
The Rainbow Wahine are 33-17 and 7-7.
In the bottom of the eighth, Ashley White doubled down the right field line with one out and Perkins pinch ran. Ortega then hit her single to right field off losing pitcher Kate Robinson.
Robinson gave UH a 1-0 led when her sacrifice fly to right field drove in Tanisha Milca in the first inning.
The Bulldogs tied the game on an RBI single by Haley Perkins in the sixth inning.
