Jr. Ranger Day at summit includes kids' star party
Haleakala National Park has scheduled family-oriented activities for tomorrow in celebration of National Park Week and National Jr. Ranger Day.
Families with children 7 to 12 years old can get free admission to the park and a Jr. Ranger booklet if they enter the summit area by 1 p.m. and show their Jr. Ranger badge or ask to join the program.
Refreshments will be served at 3 p.m. at the Hosmer Grove picnic shelter, with a special "star party" at 7:30 p.m. featuring a presentation on the scientific and cultural aspects of astronomy.
