LANIKAI — Tadd Fujikawa's final-round 76 today was more than enough for him to become the youngest winner in the history of the 50th annual Mid-Pacific Open. Fujikawa, 17, won by seven shots over three-time champion David Ishii at the Mid-Pacific Country Club.

Fujikawa finished with a four-day total of 10-under-par 278, seven shots off Ishii's tournament record. He bogeyed three of the last four holes on the front nine and led by five at the turn. No one could close the gap on the back as Fujikawa parred every hole until three-putting the last.

The Moanalua High School junior's first professional paycheck was for $13,500. Fujikawa turned pro last summer and had missed the cut in his first 10 pro events, including five on the PGA Tour.

Ishii launched in a 40-foot-plus birdie putt on the final hole to take second, at 76-285. Defending champion Darren Summers (73) and 2005 champion John Lynch (75) tied for third at 286.

Kamehameha senior TJ Kua (73) beat Punahou sophomore Bradley Shigezawa (77) with a birdie on the first playoff hole for low amateur honors. Both shot 298.

Punahou senior Stephanie Kono shared 27th in the pro flight at 77-304.
