A Washington man was arrested yesterday in the triple shooting at a Las Vegas strip club that led to the suspension of NFL cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones.

Las Vegas police said Arvin Kenti Edwards was arrested late yesterday at the Yakima County Correctional facility, where he was already in custody on unrelated charges.

Police said Edwards, 29, of Renton, Wash., faces three counts of attempted murder with a weapon and three counts of battery with substantial bodily harm.

Las Vegas police spokesman Bill Cassell wouldn't provide more details.

Club bouncer Tommy Urbanski was paralyzed from the waist down in the February 2007 shooting at the Minxx strip club during a raucous NBA All-Star Weekend.

Las Vegas police said Jones incited a fight that led to the shooting. The 24-year-old suspended Tennessee Titans star pleaded no contest in December to a disorderly conduct charge, agreeing to a year probation, random drug testing, community service and anger management classes.

Jones's lawyer declined to say when his client last spoke with detectives.

"Adam continues to cooperate with the Las Vegas police department," said Las Vegas-lawyer Robert Langford. "He is happy that whatever assistance he provided was helpful in making the arrest of the shooter."

OCHOA THREE BEHIND TSENG IN LPGA GINN

Lorena Ochoa will have to come from behind to win a fourth consecutive tournament.

Ochoa shot a 5-under 67 in the second round of the Ginn Open at Reunion, Fla. yesterday, leaving her three strokes behind leader Yani Tseng.

Tseng moved to 12 under 132 with a course-record 64. Suzann Pettersen (66—134) was one shot ahead of Ochoa and Minea Blomqvist (66) at 135.

GLOVER TAKES ROUTE 66 TO TOP OF HERITAGE

Lucas Glover shot his second straight 66 to move to 10 under 132 for a one-stroke lead over defending champion Boo Weekley (64) in the Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Anthony Kim (67) was alone in third at 134.

Hawai'i's two tour players made the cut. Parker McLachlin, a Punahou alum, fired a 68 and is in a 12-way tie for 14th place at 137, while Castle High alum Dean Wilson shot 71 for 140.

WATSON'S 63 LEADS WAY IN OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE

Defending champion Tom Watson fired an 8-under 63 to take a three-stroke lead over Mark Wiebe and David Eger after the first round of the Champions Tour Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am at Lutz, Fla.

The five-time British Open champion shot a 7-under 28 on his last nine hole, the front nine of the TPC Tampa Bay, missing just two birdie putts — a 12-footer on No. 2 and a 20-footer on No. 8. He hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation.

HAWAI'I'S KAI ON U.S. TEAM FOR APRIL 27 GAME

Aly Wagner and Heather Mitts recovered from layoffs caused by injuries were among 25 players, including Kahuku High and University of Hawai'i alum Natasha Kai, selected yesterday for the U.S. women's soccer team's April 27 exhibition match against Australia.

Mitts had a surgery last year on an anterior cruciate ligament in a knee, and Wagner was operated on in January to repair a double hernia. Both won gold medals with the U.S. team at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

TOP-SEEDED BLAKE IN U.S. CLAY COURT SEMIS

Top-seeded James Blake advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship in Houston with a 67-minute, 6-4, 6-3, victory over Agustin Calleri last night.

Blake will try to reach his first ATP clay-court final when he plays eighth-seeded Oscar Hernandez of Spain today. Hernandez beat No. 3 seed Mardy Fish, 6-2, 7-6 (5), to reach his first ATP semifinal.

American Wayne Odesnik meets seventh-seeded Marcel Granollers-Pujol of Spain in the other semifinal.

TOP TWO CIRCLE CUP SEEDS FALL IN QUARTERS

No. 5 seed Serena Williams beat No. 2 Maria Sharapova for the fourth straight time, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, yesterday in quarterfinals of the Family Circle Cup at Charleston, S.C.

Williams has not lost to Sharapova since 2005 and is 5-2 overall against her. This was their first meeting on clay.

No. 9 seed Vera Zvonareva also advanced to the semis, upsetting defending champion and No. 1 seed Jelena Jankovic, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
