Advertiser Staff
Arts lovers have a big weekend ahead:
The city's Art on the Block event is happening from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center grounds. Besides lots of art — photography, jewelry, woodturning, lamps and furniture, painting — there are food booths and entertainment all day long.
The event is free, in celebration of the Honolulu Commission on Culture and the Arts' 40th anniversary.
Tomorrow's Bank of Hawaii Family Sunday at the Honolulu Academy of Arts is all about green — the color and the Earth-friendly lifestyle. Among the attractions: Mark Chai will show how he turns discarded items into works of art, and there will be a basket-weaving demonstration by Happy Tamanaka.
It's free. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. And if you still haven't seen the exhibit "The Dragon's Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan," admission is $10. 532-8700.
