Nevada stops Rainbows in softball, 4-1

Katie Holverson pitched a six-hitter, and Britton Murdock went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs to lift Nevada to a 4-1 victory No. 18 Hawai'i in the first game of a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Reno, Nev.

Nevada is 30-14 overall and 8-2 in the WAC. Hawai'i is 31-12 and 7-2.

UH's Courtney Baughman gave up three runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. Richie-Anne Titcomb went 2 for 3 for the Rainbows.

UH scored its only run in the top of the second. Kate Robinson singled and scored on a single by Valana Manuma.

Nevada scored single runs in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings.
