State Rep. Maile Shimabukuro and her family will host a beach cleanup from 8 to 11 a.m. April 26.
The event, part of Nani O Wai'anae's "Keep Hawaii Beautiful Day," will start at Maili Point across from the Union 76 gas station on Farrington Highway and Hookele Street and will end at Hakimo Road.
Shimabukuro (D45th District - Wai'anae, Makaha, Makua) said the cleanup is part of a plan for a "People's path or multi-use path on the beach which will connect to the state's planned bicycle path. The hope is that someday the People's Path will extend along the entire Wai'anae Coast.
Volunteers are asked to bring sun protection and water. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.
