I previewed the new drama series "On Air," starting Wednesday and Thursday, and was surprised to see several original hallyu stars returning to TV. The first wave of hallyu (Korean-wave) stars got too costly to cast for a few years, and many new faces popped up in recent drama series. It's good to see big stars make a comeback.

"On Air" stars three veteran stars, Song Yun-ah, Kim Ha-neul and Park Yong-ha, with one rising star, Lee Bum-soo. It could be the veterans' push for a revival.

TV gets the stars on the map and in the public eye. After the stars make it on television, they branch off to do movies, commercials and fan appearances.

"On Air" is about the world of entertainment, revolving around the network SBC, its producers, managers, stars and writers. Fans can get an idea of how they are all related, and get a sense of what the entertainment business is like in South Korea. You will get an idea of who wields power and influence in producing a program. The producer has to bring together all ingredients, from getting a good script writer, funding and casting to setting production deadlines. The manager of the talent has to get the best price possible, while massaging the egos of the producers and network executives. The writers are fickle and hard to scout as other networks are trying to get them to sign on.

Song Yun-ah, a veteran actress, has been in movies and popular dramas, co-staring with Bae Yong-jun in "Hotelier" and Ryu Siwon in "Paper Crane"; she acts in a TV series about once a year. This time around, she plays Suh Young-eun, a successful writer being courted to do a program for SBC.

Yi Beom-soo plays Jang Ki-joon, a manager of a talent agency. Kim Ha-neul ("My Tutor Friend," "Piano," "Secret," "Romance" and "Stained Glass") plays Oh Seung-ah, a difficult but popular actress.

The talented Park Yong-ha is finally returning to television as Lee Kyung-min, the producer. Park Yong-ha has spent the past six years away from television working on his music career. He had many concerts and spent time in Japan with his large fan base. He appeared at the Waikiki Shell in 2006. Park Yong-ha has many television hits under his belt such as "Winter Sonata" (aka "Winter Ballad") along with Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo. His other TV series include; "Snowflakes," "Sunflower," and "Loving You." Park has five Korean films on his resume, too, including his latest title, "Love Me Once Again" (2002). Park has been to Hawai'i on several occasions, for work and rest.

"On Air" has a lot of star power, as other big celebrities make cameo appearances on the program.
