Fire destroys home in Lahaina

LAHAINA, Maui — A fire last night destroyed a one-story home at 220 Shaw St. in Lahaina town.
The blaze was reported at 9:33 p.m., with Maui Fire Department units from Lahaina and Napili responding to the alarm, said Battalion Chief Jeff Shaffer. The flames were brought under control about 40 minutes later, with the fire extinguished at 10:11 p.m., he said.
Damage to the three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence was estimated at $368,400. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Shaffer said the displaced occupants are staying with relatives and received assistance from the American Red Cross and their church.
