Malama o Manoa will give away more than 1,000 trees April 20 in hopes of encouraging a greener valley.

Arborists will be on hand to give advice on proper planting of the trees. An array of fruit, shade and endemic trees will be available, including kukui nut, hao, plumeria, papaya, mango, coffee, Hawaiian white hibiscus and avocado.

Interested individuals can pick up a tree at the Manoa Valley District Park pavilion at 2721 Ka'aipu Ave. between 8 a.m. and noon.
