A 30-year-old man accused of murder has a preliminary hearing scheduled Wednesday at District Court.

Patrick W. Deguair Jr. is charged with the execution-style shooting death of Jermaine Michael Duckworth, 24, whose body was found March 27 on rocks below a cliff at Keawa'ula (Yokohama Bay).

He made his initial appearance at District Court today.

Witnesses told police Deguair allegedly restrained Duckworth at a residence before driving him to Yokohama Bay where "he shot him in the back of the head with a pistol equipped with a silencer and then pushed Jermaine off the cliffs to the rocks below," an affidavit filed at District Court said.

Deguair was charged by prosecutors last weekend with second-degree murder, kidnapping, use of a prohibited weapon (silencer) and two other firearm offenses. He's also charged with two drug-related offenses stemming from his arrest Thursday night at Pagoda Hotel following a search warrant raid.

Deguair is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. If he is charged by an O'ahu grand jury, the indictment would supersede Wednesday's preliminary hearing.
