SAN DIEGO — A Holland America Line cruise ship is back in San Diego after a 15-day trip to Hawai'i that left more than 100 passengers and crew members sick.
Cruise line spokesman Erik Elvejord told the San Diego Union-Tribune that 99 passengers and 12 crew members aboard the Zaandam reported being sickened, likely by a norovirus. The ship docked about 8 a.m. Thursday.
Norovirus can cause vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping and usually lasts 24 to 48 hours. It is highly contagious.
