Hawaii Book and Music fest coming May 17-18

The third Hawai'i Book & Music Festival, celebrating books, reading, storytelling and music, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17 and 18 at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds of City Hall.
A wide range of local, national and international authors, entertainers and storytellers will assemble in the benefit for Hawai'i Literacy and Read To Me International.
"Last year's event drew over 20,000 attendees, and with the abundant list of events and activities, this year's festival is sure to be another success," said Roger Jellinek, executive director for the Hawaii Book & Music Festival, in a statement. "With over 450 presenters and 175 events, this spectacular gathering offers something special for each member of the family."
Admission is free.
A gamut of activities will unfold in 12 simultaneous venues, in tent pavilions and on mini-stages, with music programs, author signings, poetry slams, dramatic readings, plays and presentations on Hawaiian culture.
Exhibitor booths will offer book and music available for purchase or order, with food vendors providing snacks. There will be children's events, including a keiki stage, a play area and rides.
Target, a new merchant to the Islands, will present an activities pavilion.
