David Matlin to head up Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl

David Matlin has been promoted to executive director of the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl, replacing Jim Donovan who recently was named director of athletics at the University of Hawai'i.

Matlin, 43, had served as director of operations for the bowl game since 2002.

Matlin has more than two decades of collegiate and professional sports experience in marketing and management. He has worked for the Houston Astros baseball team, Arts Center Enterprises (dba The Majestic Theatre), University of Hawai'i athletic department, m2c Inc., and ESPN Regional Television.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Matlin also holds a masters in business administration from the UH. He was born in Honolulu and his father, Lewis, served as general manager of the Hawai'i Islanders baseball team in 1963 and 1964.

Matlin and his wife, Dana, have two children.
