White truck sought in hit-run

Police are looking for a white truck, possibly with a camper roof, in a hit-and-run investigation involving critical injuries to a bicyclist.
The man on the bicycle was struck by the truck Thursday at about 9:45 p.m. on Sand Island Access Road near 'Auiki Street.
The bicyclist was taken to The Queen's Medical Center. No update on his condition was available yesterday.
HUSBAND CHARGED IN WIFE'S DEATH
A Makakilo man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his wife.
Michael Schuette, 45, of a Hame Street address, was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail pending his initial appearance today at District Court.
He is accused of killing his 49-year-old wife, Victoria Schuette, who died at an unnamed hospital on Sept. 10.
Police initially classified the case as an unattended death until an autopsy determined the death was a homicide.
Victoria Schuette died of breathing difficulties caused by force, police said.
Police arrested Michael Schuette Friday.
He and his wife were arguing in the backyard of their home at about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10 when police were told she fell and became unresponsive.
WAIALUA CRASH VICTIM IDENTIFIED
The Honolulu medical examiner's office has identified an 80-year-old man who died Sept. 16 at The Queen's Medical Center from injuries suffered in a car crash on Sept. 5 on Kaukonahua Road as Susumu Nekoishi of Waialua.
Nekoishi's death was O'ahu's 47th traffic fatality of the year and preceded Saturday night's 48th fatality of a motorcyclist near Aloha Stadium.
According to vehicular homicide investigators, Nekoishi was injured when his car veered off Kaukonahua Road, struck a dirt embankment, rolled over and hit a utility pole guy-wire.
He was taken to Queen's where he died 11 days later at 5:50 a.m.
SEARCH CALLED OFF FOR KAYAKERS
The Coast Guard yesterday suspended its search for possible occupants of a three-person kayak found drifting in waters about two miles off Diamond Head yesterday at about 2 p.m.
Lt. Kenneth Cutler said the Coast Guard has not heard from anyone missing a kayak or missing kayakers.
"The search is suspended, but the case is still open," Cutler said. "We're very interested in finding the owner to close the case."
The Coast Guard unsuccessfully checked local retailers of the 12-foot Ocean Kayak model with hopes of finding an owner.
MULTIPLE CHARGES FOR BIG ISLE MAN
Big Island prosecutors have charged a Kona man with multiple theft, ID theft, mail theft and drug charges.
Paul Ebel, 40, of Honomalino, who was charged Friday, is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $80,000 bail.
Detectives from the Kona Criminal Investigations Section seized stolen property and mail in a warrant search of Ebel's residence, which led to charges.
SWIMMER WHO DIED FROM OREGON
The Honolulu medical examiner's office has identified the man who died Saturday after being pulled unconscious from the water at the Ihilani Resort & Spa lagoon at Ko Olina as Alan Jansen, 74, of Oregon.
The Honolulu Fire Department and EMS personnel responded to the call at 11 a.m.
The case is classified by police as an unattended death pending an autopsy today.
