"Sunrise on KGMB9," the CBS affiliate's new morning show premiering at 5 a.m. Monday on channel 9, will bring some familiar names and faces to the tube.

Malika Dudley, a weekend weather anchor, will turn a channel 9 classic, Hawai'i's Super Kids, into a regular feature zooming in on young people with extraordinary success stories. Dudley also will hand "Sunrise" weather reports.

Billy Van Osdol (Billy V) will report local entertainment news from his Hawaiian 105 KINE morning drive radio stint.

Mike Evans, a former Island broadcaster, will bring Hollywood headlines to the fold, transiting from a former KSSK radio feature to an interactive video segment.

The show, filling a morning void at Channel 9, will be hosted by Steve Uyehara and Grace Lee, with Jeff Booth as meteorologst, Ramsay Wharton as reporter and Howard Dicus as a go-to regular with a "Hawai'i's Favorite Explainer" billing.

"Sunrise on KGMB9" pays homage to the first live TV news program on KGMB, where "Sunrise" first launched in 1952. The original hosts will be part of the premiere telecast.

The morning program, which runs to 7 a.m., also will boast real-time captioning.
