Shark warning eased on North Shore

Shark-sighting signs were removed from Chun's Reef and Laniakea on the North Shore of O'ahu yesterday morning after lifeguards reassessed offshore waters.
A police helicopter spotted a 12-to-15-foot tiger shark off Chun's Reef and the Laniakea areas Saturday.
Lifeguards still are warning beachgoers to use caution in the area.
Ocean safety officials suggest that beachgoers:
Do no swim, surf or dive without a buddy.
Stay out of the water at dawn, dusk or night.
Don't enter the water if you have open wounds or are bleeding.
Avoid murky waters, harbor entrances and areas near stream mouths.
Do not wear high-contrast clothing or shiny jewelry.
Refrain from excessive splashing.
Do not enter the water if sharks are known to be in the area and leave the water quickly and calmly if a shark is sighted.
If fish or turtles start to behave erratically, leave the water.
Remove speared fish from the water or tow them at a safe distance behind.
Swim or surf at beaches patrolled by lifeguards.
