Walgreens plans Maui store near Lahaina Cannery Mall

Advertiser Staff

Walgreens said its planned Lahaina, Maui, store will be built on a vacant site at Honoapi'ilani Highway and Keawe Street near the Lahaina Cannery Mall.

The store is designed to be 15,000 square feet with a drive-through pharmacy, and should employ about 40 people.

The Maui store will be the company's fourth in Hawai'i. Three other Walgreens stores are being developed in existing O'ahu buildings that were acquired and are being renovated — one at the former Tower Records store near Ala Moana Center, one at a former Star Market store in Kane'ohe and one at the former Kam Bowl in Kalihi.

The Ala Moana store will open on Thursday. The three other stores are to open in the second half of next year. Walgreens, the nation's largest drugstore retail chain, hopes to eventually open 25 to 30 stores in Hawai'i.
