The official waiting period for the 2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear begins Saturday with judges and surfers looking to Sunday for the first possible day of the competition.

The contest has Sunset Beach "reserved" for two weeks and will choose the best three days to run the contest.

Sunset Elementary School parents will have a chance to raise money for the campus when they man a T-shirt concession for the event at the beach.

Xcel produced the first Xcel Pro surf contest in 1984 and since then the contest has been held in prime 6- to 8-foot waves.
