Water service to seven homes on Wailua Street in Hawai'i Kai was restored early yesterday morning after a water main broke during rush-hour traffic about 5 p.m. Monday.
The break was relatively small, said Honolulu Board of Water Supply spokeswoman Su Shin.
A water wagon was brought out to the area and police were on hand diverting traffic while crews made repairs.
Water service was restored to the homes by 1 a.m. yesterday, Shin said. Crews completed repair work by 3:30 a.m., she said.
The 8-inch pipe was installed in 1970.
