Waialua, Wahiawa and the North Shore will have four more police officers assigned to agriculture detail, said Maj. Bart Huber, with the Wahiawa station.

The new officers will be part of the Crime Reduction Unit that will cover beaches and other criminal activities as well, Huber said.

The positions were awarded in August. A Community Policing sergeant position also was allocated and is expected to increase and improve communication with the community, Huber said.

The community has been lobbying for more officers for a long time, he said.

The new officers will bring police personnel up to 132 at the station.
