Quarterback Kela Marciel scored on a fake and delay up the middle from 13 yards with one minute, 26 seconds left to rally 'Iolani past Damien, 28-21, last night in Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II football at Aloha Stadium.

It was the second of two Raiders' touchdowns in the fourth quarter that aided the rally after the Monarchs overcame a 14-0 deficit with 21 unanswered points until 'Iolani tied the game early the fourth quarter.

"This was big," Marciel said. "It's always big to win the divisional game."

The Raiders (4-3 overall, 3-1 ILH) took over from their own 12 with 4:06 left after Damien punted from the 'Iolani 42. Running back Justin Yamamoto pulled off runs of 16 and 30 yards during the drive, while Marciel completed 3 of 3 passes. But on second-and-1 at the Damien 13, Marciel lined up in shotgun formation, faked a handoff to Yamamoto who went sweeping to the right, opening a gap up the middle for Marciel, who went through for the score. Kodi Look's PAT made it 28-21.

The Monarchs' (2-4-1, 1-3) final drive of the game ended when Lionel Fujioka intercepted an Anthony Tuitele pass with about 20 seconds left.

"We have to play consistent," Damien coach Brian Derby said. "At times, we looked real great. At times, we looked very mediocre."

All of this overshadowed another great performance by Damien running back Kama Bailey, who rushed for 191 yards on 20 carries, including an electrifying 86-yard TD off a scramble when he lined up in shotgun as the quarterback. He also had one pass completion for 47 yards.

Marciel passed for 136 yards and one TD to Fujioka off a fake punt. Marciel also rushed for 97 yards. Yamamoto had 136 yards rushing with TD runs of 1 and 24 yards.

Damien took a 21-14 lead in the third quarter on a 22-yard TD pass from Tuitele to Austin Dawson, only to see the Raiders come back on their ensuing series on a 24-yard TD run by Yamamoto tie the game at 21 with 10:55 left.

'Iolani took a 14-0 lead before the Monarchs rallied. Yamamoto's one-yard TD run on third down and Look's PAT made it 7-0 just 1:32 into the game. Marciel then tossed a 45-yard TD to Fujioka off a fake punt that made it 14-0 with 11:35 left in the half.

The Monarchs scored with 2:23 left on a 1-yard TD sneak by Tuitele. The PAT failed, making it 14-6. Damien tied the game on Bailey's 86-yard TD run and a two-point conversion with 15 seconds left in the half.
