Hoku Scientific shares up

Shares of Hoku Scientific Inc. climbed 10 percent after the Kapolei-based company announced a subsidiary signed an agreement on engineering and design services for part of its polysilicon production plant in Pocatello, Idaho.
Shares rose 91 cents to $9.96 on news of the accord with Dynamic Engineering Inc., a process technology and engineering firm.
The agreement calls for the company to provide the services and a technology license for a trichlorosilane production plant that Hoku is building in Idaho.
Trichlorosilane is the primary material used to produce polysilicon, used in computer chips and solar panels.
Hoku Scientific also announced it will release financial results for its fiscal second quarter on Oct. 23.
