HAWAI'I GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION
The Hawai'i Government Employees Association has named Derek Mizuno deputy executive director - administration. As such, he will oversee all administrative functions for HGEA, which represents more than 28,000 state and county employees. Most recently, Mizuno was controller for the Estate of Samuel Mills Damon, overseeing accounting, financial and tax reporting, budgeting, cash management functions and monitoring of the estate's $800 million investment portfolio. He also assisted in the real estate dispositions relating to the termination of the estate, prior to joining HGEA. Mizuno is a past senior manager with KPMG LLP where Campbell Estate and James and Abigail Campbell Foundation were among clients for which he prepared financial statements and audits. Others clients included the state Employees' Retirement System; Castle Family Limited Partnership and Harold K. L. Castle Foundation, and Kuilima Resort Co.
PORSCHE, JAGUAR, LAND ROVER DEALERSHIPS
Fletcher Jones Motorcars Hawai'i has named Marty Barger general manager of the Porsche of Hawai'i, Jaguar of Honolulu and Land Rover of Honolulu dealerships. The Fletcher Jones Motorcars group is one of the largest dealership groups in the United States, with six dealerships in Hawai'i. Previously, Barger was with the Fletcher Jones Mercedes Benz store in Honolulu and their Honda dealership in Hilo. Prior to joining the Fletcher Jones team, Barger was one of the owners of the Infiniti store in Honolulu, and, before that, spent 12 years managing Honda Windward in Kane'ohe.
WAILEA BEACH MARRIOTT RESORT & SPA
Scott Obley has been promoted to director of group sales at the 546-room Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa on Maui. Previously, he was senior account executive in the hotel's sales department. His career has also included stints as sales manager at Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel in Colorado, and concierge manager, recreation manager and sales manager at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa. Obley is current chairman of the Maui County Commission on Culture and the Arts. An ongoing $60 million resort renovation will feature a lobby redecoration, guest room renovation, deep-soaking bathtubs, the newly opened Mandara Spa and a "Serenity Pool" with over-the-water cabanas on the oceanfront Molokini Lawn area.
