Two Hawai'i gymnasts qualified for the Talent Opportunity Program National Team based on their performances in a national competition last month.

Kiana Palin, a fifth-grader at Salt Lake Elementary School, qualified for the A training camp and Lauren Lauro, a third-grader at Le Jardin Academy, qualified for the B training camp.

Both camps will be in December at Karolyi's Gymnastics and will be coached by Olympic coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi.

Palin and Lauro competed against 300 gymnasts from around the country in Houston, Texas, Oct. 5 to 7, to earn their national spots. The top 20 from each age group qualified for the Karolyi camp.

The two gymnasts are coached by Joe Rapp and Jamey Gossett.
