A 57-year-old man escaped serious injuries yesterday after plunging 100 feet in a hang-gliding accident at Makapu'u.
Fire Rescue specialists with assistance from HFD's helicopter brought the man up to waiting Emergency Medical Services personnel, who took him to The Queen's Medical Center.
Hawaiian Hang Gliding Association director David Goto said the man had body abrasions and a possible shoulder injury. Goto said the 1:35 p.m. accident happened after takeoff.
"He went into a lull and the glider stalled," Goto said.
He said the injured man has 25 years experience in hang gliding.
