HAWAII P-20 INITIATIVE
The Hawaii P-20 Initiative, a collaboration of the Good Beginnings Alliance, Department of Education, and the University of Hawai'i, has named Carl Takamura as senior associate for external affairs and Michelle Kau as fiscal officer.
As senior associate, Takamura will work to advance the P-20 agenda and advise the P-20 leadership in the areas of government relations, resource development and communications.
As fiscal officer, Kau will be responsible for overseeing the contract development, fiscal administration and budget management of various grants from state agencies, foundations and federal funding agencies.
HAWAI'I PACIFIC UNIVERSITY
Dr. John Hart has been promoted to associate dean of Hawai'i Pacific University's College of Communications. Hart joined HPU in 1999 as associate professor of communications.
He is a well-known media figure in the local and international entertainment fields.
He has held positions at major radio stations and record companies and has worked with many well-known recording artists, among them the late guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn, to whom he was confidante for nearly a decade.
CITY MILL
City Mill has named Sue Fujimoto merchandising manager. Fujimoto has more than 30 years of merchandising experience, most recently as division merchandising manager at DFS Hawaii.
ROBERTS HAWAII
Roberts Hawaii, a transportation and entertainment company, said Gay Nagashima Sato has been hired as IT project manager. She will facilitate, coordinate and execute IT initiatives and projects impacting operations of the company. Most recently, Sato served as manager of wireless service operations for Hawaiian Telcom.
SKAL INTERNATIONAL HAWAII
Skal International Hawaii has installed new officers for the 2007-08 term. They are: president, Phil Sammer, general manager of the Ilima Hotel; vice president, Susan Weander, director of travel industry Sales at Interstate Hotels and Resorts; secretary, Valerie Davis, president and owner of Cruise Voyages; treasurer, Mike Miller, senior vice president of Park Air Express/Standard Parking.
Seven new board members were also elected: Tom Anusewicz, executive vice president of Bradley Pacific Aviation; Daniel Bayne, director of sales-Pacific for Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group; Jim Heather, general manager at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Hotel; Earl Loo, president or Business and Leisure Holidays; Deems Narimatsu, vice president of Roberts Hawaii; Greg Nelson, general manager of Napili Kai Beach Resort; and T.J. Oesterling, regional director, resort operations-Hawaii for Hilton Grand Vacations Club.
Skal is an international organization that brings together all branches of the travel and tourism industry.
