The isolated kingdom of Bhutan is the focus of a pair of film screenings/concerts this weekend.

"Bhutan: Taking the Middle Path to Happiness" is a documentary by a Maui film crew that explores the government policy of maintaining the people's "gross national happiness." Tom Vendetti directed the 60-minute film.

Musician Goen Tshering of Bhutan's National Academy of Performing Arts will perform after each screening.

The screenings/concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. today at the East-West Center's Imin International Conference Center, Keoni Auditorium; and at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Spalding Hall.
