SHARKS TIE FOR EAST LEAD

David Maroul led off the seventh inning with a homer and Hector Pellot added a two-run shot, helping the Waikiki BeachBoys rally past the North Shore Honu, 5-4, last night at Hans L'Orange Park to keep their slim lead in the Hawaii Winter Baseball East Division.

The BeachBoys (17-18) remained one-half game ahead of the Honolulu Sharks (16-18), who beat the West Oahu CaneFires, 8-2, earlier yesterday.

Fuminori Yokogawa and Matt Wieters each drove in two runs for the Sharks, who open a three-game, season-ending series against the BeachBoys today starting at noon.

The East winner will play West Division champion North Shore for the league title Monday at 6 p.m. at Hans L'Orange Park.
