"Waikiki by Moonlight — Hana Hou!" returns after a successful debut last year titled "Waikiki by Moonlight — Vintage Meets Vogue." The street festival will feature a variety of food, art, crafts and fashions. Entertainment is by musical acts Nina Keali'iwahamana and Mahi Beamer, Danny Couch, Randy Lorenzo, Justin Young, Ernie Cruz Jr., Jake Shimabukuro, Natural Vibrations, Pali, Kata Maduli and the Bridge Boys. Also, the Japanese group Tube will make a special appearance. A musical tribute to the late Don Ho is scheduled, too.

FESTIVAL: JUNE 2

The usually flamboyant Honolulu Gay Pride 2007 Festival and Parade focuses on a sense of community with this year's theme, "I Belong." The festival will include family-style entertainment on two stages, the Gay Idol final, poetry slam, The Drag King Contest, workshops, a children's area, DJs, vendors and food booths. The parade features the Aloha Gay Pride Marching Band and floats as it proceeds from Magic Island via Kalakaua Avenue toward to Kapi'olani Park.

Join Honolulu Symphony concertmaster Iggy Jang, left, and his childhood friend, harpist Sebastian Lipman, in a special reunion concert with guests Sayo Lipman, Greg Wrenn, Mark Butin, Mark Votapek and Kirby Nunez. The two pals grew up in France, played mean games of soccer, took separate paths and then reunited 30 years later. The program features musical pairings from Saint-Saens' Duo to Handel's Harp Concerto, from Kodaly's String Quartet No. 2 to Debussy's Danses Sacree et Profane.

"Robots: The Interactive Exhibition" opens at Pearlridge on June 8 to celebrate 10 years of the mall's free summer exhibits. The multimedia showcase is based on the animated movie "Robots" and includes large-scale educational, interactive and hands-on displays concentrated around Uptown and Downtown Center Court areas. Here are a partial list of activities:

  • Robot Explorers: Building a robotic probe to explore under water and outer space environments

  • Crosstown Express: a Robot City cab simulator

  • Build-A-Wonder-Bot: Create a robot to assist with a specific household chore

  • Hall of Fame: display of famous historical robots from television and film

    Texas blues/rocker Johnny Winter performs on four islands on his Hawai'i Tour '07, and a portion of the proceeds benefits arts education in the schools. Winter has been known for his fresh take on classic blues for more than 30 years; his 2006 Grammy-nominated "I'm a Bluesman" disc has only added to his Texas-sized reputation. The Girlas and Bluzilla will be the opening acts on O'ahu.

    Korean pop recording star/actor/dancer Rain brings his superstar power to Aloha Stadium in a much anticipated concert that was moved up from July 3 to June 15. Rain's smooth moves and perfect abs attract attention, but his climb to fame began with his appearance in "Full House," a Korean drama in 2004. In April 2006, Rain was one of Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People Who Shape Our World" in an online poll. He also made it on People magazine's 2007 list of the Most Beautiful People in the world.

    The Makaha Sons, right, head back to the Waikiki Shell with their annual concert "Take a Walk in the Country 5," themed "Ho'i Mai I Ke Kumu (Back to the Beginning)." Joining the veteran music makers will be Keali'i Reichel and Melveen Leed and opening act Hoku Zuttermeister. Adding hula will be Kealo Koko, Manu Boyd with the dancers of Halau O Ke 'A'ali'i Ku Makani and Chinky Mahoe with Halau Hula O Kawaili'ula.

    Jewish reggae singer Matisyahu ("Jerusalem," "Message in a Bottle" and "King Without a Crown") headlines this year's Band Camp 5, which returns to the Waikiki Shell.     The Phoenix Dance Chamber will showcase the diversity and depth of Chinese dance in a concert titled "Spirit of China," directed by professor and folk dance specialist Liu Youlan of the Beijing Dance Academy and Phoenix's artistic director Diane Letoto.
