Kona Brewing Co. has introduced a limitedrelease beer, Wailua Wheat, a light, slightly tart ale with a citrusy aroma because it's flavored with passion fruit. The name celebrates Wailua Falls, on the road to Hana, Maui.

This is the second limited-release beer for Kona Brewing; the other, Pipeline Porter, claimed the 15th-highest case sales of new craft-beer brands in U.S. supermarkets, according to a study from the Brewers Association. The beer will be available now through September. It will be sold in six-packs and on tap at Kona Brewing Co. locations on the Big Island and O'ahu.

BIG ISLAND BOUNTY

LOCAL PRODUCE IS STARRING ATTRACTION AT HUALALAI

Pahu i'a Restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is launching a seasonal specialties menu, "Hamakua and Beyond," highlighting what they're calling the "agricultural heartland" of the Islands: the farms of Hamakua, Waimea and Kohala.

Chef Graham Quayle, right, says his goal is to use the freshest ingredients and then keep dishes simple to showcase the produce. Among the dishes: Big Island goat cheese souffle with Kamuela tomato crostini and white honey-balsamic reduction, Hamakua mushroom and jumbo prawn noodle soup with pepeiao mushrooms, baby bok choi and pho rice noodles, roasted Kahua Ranch rack of lamb with Kamuela tomatoes, micro arugula, fennel, goat cheese, Alii mushrooms, Hawaiian vanilla-white honey vinaigrette and poha berry demi-glaze. The menu is at www.fourseasons.com/hualalai/dining.html.
