  • Rusty Rasmussen, vice president of Castle & Cooke Mortgage, has been named the steering chair of the 2007 Building Industry Association of Hawai'i (BIA-Hawai'i) 2007 Parade of Homes. The annual event, held this year during the weekends of Oct. 6-7 and Oct. 13-14, is a showcase of new homes in Hawai'i, as well as the latest trends, technology and design innovations in residential construction.

  • MELVIN LEE has been promoted to service manager at Heide & Cook Ltd., a full-service mechanical contractor and air-conditioning service company. He will oversee daily technical operations for the entire service departments on O'ahu and Maui. PETER BESSARA has been promoted to service supervisor and will also oversee daily technical operations for O'ahu and Maui, as well as provide repair and replacement estimates for customers, and technical assistance to field technicians. JASON FUJIHARA has been hired as general manager of Heide & Cook subsidiary, Air Reps Hawai'i, which offers a number of cooling products. Fujihara also will continue as president of Maintec Inc. Heide & Cook Ltd. has operated in the state for 60 years and is the state's second largest Hawaiian-owned business.

  • Public relations and marketing firm Bright Light Marketing Group has announced the promotion of Charlene Lo Chan to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Chan had served as senior vice president and chief operating officer since joining the firm early last year.

  • KATHRYN S. MATAYOSHI has been named executive director of the Hawai'i Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers and senior leaders of companies headquartered, or maintaining significant operations, in Hawai'i. Matayoshi is a former Cabinet member under Gov. Benjamin Cayetano, and former director of the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

  • Intracorp Companies, developer of the new residential condominium project, The Watermark Waikiki, has appointed Gail Nakamura vice president of marketing for its Hawai'i office. Before joining Intracorp Companies in 2006, the Hawai'i native was vice president of marketing for D.R. Horton/Western Pacific Housing in San Diego.

  • Robert Nobriga has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer at Hawaii National Bank. Before joining the bank last year as vice president and chief financial officer, he was chief financial and operations officer for the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawai'i, and business assurance manager with PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP. Also, Bryan Luke was promoted to senior vice president, corporate strategy for the bank, overseeing corporate strategy, human resources, marketing, training and branch systems. Previously, he served as vice president, corporate strategy and was a consultant to the bank in 2005. Also at Hawaii National Bank, five managers were promoted to manager and assistant vice president: Louis Chun (Kailua branch); Michael Lau (Kalihi branch), Jarrett Oshiro (Pearl City branch), Keith Shimomura (Makiki branch) and Joe Yit (main branch). Hawaii National Bank has 215 employees statewide, with 11 branch offices on O'ahu, two on Maui and two in Hilo.
