Michael Stars T-shirts have become a staple in many fashionable Island women's wardrobes. Their comfy fabrics, exuberant colors and huge range of styles make them a must-have basic.

Now, for the first time, the Los Angeles-based family-run company is introducing a line of dresses. Pam Ross, owner of Ohelo Road in Kahala Mall, will offer many of the dress styles, including the Natalie (a sexy shirred halter), Mia (cowl neck with high waist and side pockets) and Bridget (empire waist tank). Prices for the dresses range from $138 to $188.

HARAJUKU LOVERS

Chic Icon, the eclectic little boutique in the Koko Marina Shopping Center, has added the Harajuku Lovers line to its mix, just in time for Gwen Stefani's (sold-out) Honolulu concerts Aug. 24-25. Among other offerings: Baby Tokidoki onesies, Hello Kitty handbags, bathroom sets, radios and contact lens cases, Von Dutch caps, Sorelli jewelry, and iconic handbags by My Flat in London and Tarina Tarantino.

STYLE AT NEIMAN MARCUS

While uber-stylist Frederic Fekkai has been unable to visit Hawai'i during the past few busy years (he's opening new salons, developing new products, getting married to a supermodel and whatnot), he is sending over Kasai, a top stylist from his Beverly Hills salon. Kasai will be here to launch the Summer Hair Care collection and consult with women on the health and styling of their hair from noon to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow, at Neiman Marcus Ala Moana.

The headline-making accessory of the moment is the statement ring. Big, bold and beautiful, they're not just for cocktail hour anymore. Check out the designs of John Hardy, Stephen Dweck, David Yurman and Jose and Maria Barrera during the "Be Jeweled" event today through May 12 in the Designer Jewelry and Precious Jewels Salons.

LEO CADIA, ICON SHOWS

Beach- and ocean-loving moms will want to meet local jewelry designer Leo Cadia, on hand at Sandal Tree Ala Moana from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow to create one-of-a-kind necklaces of beach glass, vintage beads and shells.

Designer of the line Leocadia Eyre was inspired to create jewelry by her grandmother's gypsy nature. She remembers her grandmother beading everything from jewelry to curtains for their home in the late '60s.

In addition to the jewelry, there will be a trunk show of ICON accessories. ICON is crafted by a unique process of reproducing famous fine art on leather pieces such as handbags, shoes, wallets, coin purses and cosmetic cases.

HAUT DOGS ON PARADE

Now here's a new take on Cinco de Mayo: Forget the margaritas and bring on the bow-wows. The Aloha Tower Marketplace Center Atrium will become a festive fiesta at 4 p.m. tomorrow, as Chihuahua owners dress up their pooches and parade them on a runway. Only chic chis need apply.

JEWELRY BY CARI

Jewelry designer Cari Streeter creates hand-sculpted sterling silver pieces that can be personalized with a message hand-stamped just for mom. The designer will be on hand for a trunk show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Shasa Emporium in Kahala Mall.

The line lends itself to the current trend for layering and individualizing accessories.

NEW AT PEARLRIDGE

Pearlridge recently added two stores to its fashion offerings. Ainokea, the edgy retailer that features men's and women's clothing with attitude, opened in Uptown on the second floor, adjacent to World of Feng Shui.

Papaya Clothing Company just opened in Downtown, second level, adjacent to Mark's Hallmark. The California-based retailer features women's clothing, shoes and accessories, including eyewear, costume jewelry and cosmetics.
