Stuart H. Coleman, best-known in Hawai'i as the author of the book "Eddie Would Go," has won an Uplifting Human Values award. The award, which is granted by the Art of Living Foundation, recognizes people across the country who have made a difference to their communities and is part of the campaign for a Violence-Free, Stress-Free America. The nongovernmental organization Art of Living, founded by Indian spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, is involved in health and conflict resolution issues.

Coleman is in Washington, D.C., for the Art of Living's 25th anniversary celebration, which takes place tonight at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Coleman, coordinator of the service learning and leadership program at the East-West Center, will be honored at an event, which will be attended by U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein and Jesse Jackson.
