A brushfire that burned about 10 acres near the East golf course of the Makaha Country Club was reported under control shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday

The Fire Department sent eight engine companies and four tankers to the fire, which started about 4 p.m. There were no injuries or property damage, Fire Department spokesman Capt. Frank Johnson said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Resort security personnel saw a group of youths in the area just before the fire started. Investigators were looking into whether it was intentionally set.
